Access to Capital - Food Service Recovery Grant Program

Description:

Thank you for your interest in the City of Charlotte's Open for Business Access to Capital program. The Food Service Recovery Grant Program will distribute $4 million in federal CARES Act funding to restaurants, bars, food trucks, caterers and music venues headquartered within the city limits of Charlotte.

The program is part of the City's Open for Business Initiative and will distribute grants of either $10,000 or $25,000, depending on number of employees. Applications will be available from September 21 at noon to October 19 at 5 p.m. 

Foundation For The Carolinas serves as the City’s grantmaking partner for this effort.


Eligibility:

Businesses that received a grant through the Small Business Recovery Grant program are NOT eligible to apply for this program. Eligible businesses that applied for the Small Business Recovery Grant program but did not receive a grant will automatically be considered for the Food Service Recovery Grant program and do not need to reapply. 
  • Open to restaurants, bars, food trucks, caterers and music venues.
  • Business must be located within the city limits of Charlotte, NC.
  • Business must have been conducting business before January 1, 2020.
  • Applicants cannot currently be engaged in bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Nonprofits, liquor stores and adult entertainment establishments are not eligible.
  • Business must be included in the Mecklenburg County database as having paid the Prepared Food and Beverage Tax in 2019, as well as having submitted this form to the County in August or September of 2020, even if the submission shows $0 revenue. Our application reviewers will check the database to ensure eligibility.
