2015 Charlotte Lesbian and Gay Fund Project Grant Application

Brief Description:

The Charlotte Lesbian and Gay Fund’s Program, Project and Event (“PPE”) Grants are awarded to encourage 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations to serve the LGBT community either directly or in partnership with another organization(s). LGBT as well as non-LGBT organizations are eligible for a PPE Grant of up to $5,000 for programs, projects and events that support the mission of the CLGF:

“Cultivating one community that supports lesbian and gay individuals and families.”

Eligible organizations may apply for ONE PPE grant per annual grants cycle, requesting up to $5,000.

GRANT REQUIREMENTS

  • Grant awards must be made to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.
  • All project activities must conclude by June 30, 2016.
  • Eligible organizations may apply for ONE PPE grant per annual grants cycle, requesting up to $5,000.
  • Grant recipients must agree to provide up to two (2) written evaluations specifically outlining how PPE Grant funds are being, or were, used (see 2014-2015 Grantee Timeline).
  • The GLGF Board of Advisors reserves the right to request additional information at any time.
  • Grant funds not spent for approved purposes specified in the grant application must be returned to the CLGF.
  • Applicant organizations must attest that their membership and/or service population are contained within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community, and must agree to use grant funds solely within Mecklenburg County.


FUNDING PRIORITIES
  • Proposed initiatives should respond to and promote the mission of the Fund: “…to cultivate one community that supports lesbian and gay individuals and families, with the belief that all people should be treated with equal respect and dignity in all facets of the community.”
  • Preferred programs:
  • Build understanding and appreciation as well as promote value of inclusion within the organization’s circle of influence, especially LGBT populations not previously targeted.
  • Cultivate opportunities for leadership by contributions of LGBT people.
  • Engage and include all people from diverse backgrounds and sexual orientation in programs, services and organizational values.
  • Funding will not be provided for the same program, project or event for more than 2 years.


AREAS TYPICALLY NOT FUNDED
  • Capital campaigns and endowment funds.
  • Networking infrastructure, hardware and software for computers or other similar forms of technology.
  • Publication of books.
  • Projects that promote policy advocacy, political activity or religious views.
  • Organizations for re-granting purposes.
  • Debt retirement/deficit funding.
  • Activities occurring prior to grant decision.
  • Projects typically the funding responsibility of federal, state or local government.
  • New proposals that duplicate existing or established programs or services.
  • HIV/AIDS programs.
  • Strategic Planning in “ordinary course of business.”
